Richard Bowen, professor of accounting, Naveen Jindal School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas, was former business chief underwriter, Citigroup, during the housing bubble financial crisis meltdown and saw firsthand the fraud inside the organization. According to the Wall Street JournalCBS Evening News, and 60 Minutes, he is the Citigroup whistleblower who repeatedly warned Citi executive management about risky business practices and potential losses related to mortgage lending. Citigroup eventually stripped Mr. Bowen of all responsibilities and placed him on administrative leave. He subsequently testified before the Securities and Exchange Commission and gave them 1,000 pages of evidence of fraudulent activities, with the bank bailouts occurring three months later. His testimony has been widely quoted in numerous articles and pieces of litigation related to the meltdown. In 2010, Mr. Bowen was a key witness in the mortgage mishaps as he gave nationally televised testimony before the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission. 

J.P. Morgan Asset Management

Priscilla Hancock, managing director, J.P. Morgan Asset Management, Global Fixed Income, Currency & Commodities Group, is the global fixed income strategist and head of the fixed income insights strategy team. Throughout her career in the capital markets, she has been involved in strategy, product development, investment banking, sales, consulting, and venture capital. Previously, Ms. Hancock has held positions at Moody’s Investors Service, Standard & Poor’s, and Lehman Brothers. A frequent public speaker at national conferences, she has edited and contributed to several national financial publications. Ms. Hancock earned a B.A., University of Virginia, an MBA in finance and marketing, Columbus University, and an executive certificate in strategy and innovation, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Matthews Asia

Andrew MattockAndrew Mattock, portfolio manager, Matthews Asia, manages the firm’s China Strategy. Previous to joining the firm in 2015, he was a fund manager at Henderson Global Investors for 15 years, first in London and then in Singapore, managing Asia Pacific equities. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers and is qualified as a chartered accountant. Mr. Mattock earned a bachelor's degree in business from Abilene Christian University.

Raymond "Ray" VarsRaymond “Ray” Theodore Vars recently joined Harding Loevner LP as a portfolio specialist. Previously, he was a principal, portfolio manager and analyst at NorthRoad Capital Management LLC. Prior to co-founding NorthRoad in 2002, Mr. Vars was an international and global portfolio manager, Lazard Asset Management, and also an analyst and associate, Asset Strategy Consulting. He earned a B.A., Yale University.

Scott Welch has been an Institute member and CIMA professional since 2004. A frequent conference speaker and active member of the Editorial Advisory Board, he joined the Institute's board of directors in 2016.

Mr. Welch is the chief investment officer of Dynasty Financial Partners, a provider of outsourced investment research, portfolio management, technology, and practice management solutions to RIAs and advisory teams making the move to independence. He was the founder of UnconstrainedThought, a macro-economic, investment, and wealth management consultancy. Continuing Education (CE) Credit
