The CIMA® certification program is in a state of transition. Therefore, candidates who were accepted into the CIMA certification program prior to July 1, 2009, will have a limited number of Level II in-class education opportunities and are subject to the following requirements:
Payment/Application:
- Pay full program fee up front; all but $1,500 (and $395 IMCA membership fee if applicable) may be reimbursed upon cancellation.
- Application is valid for two years from the date it was processed by IMCA or December 31, 2010, whichever date comes first.
- Reactivation status is available to pre-January 2009 candidates whose Level I examination window has closed (a $300 reactivation fee applies).
Education/Examination:
- Level I is self-study and provided by IMCA.
- Pre-July 1, 2009 candidates must successfully complete the online Level I examination. Candidates may take the Level I exam as frequently as needed (with a 24-hour system waiting period between attempts), but a retesting fee of $125 applies for each attempt after the initial attempt. (Note—in some cases a $300 reactivation fee will be required if a pre-January 2009 candidate's Level I exam window has closed.)
- IMCA recommends that pre-July 1, 2009 candidates complete the Level I portion as soon as possible to ensure entry into a remaining contracted Level II class.
- Pre-July 1, 2009 candidates select and schedule Level II class through IMCA, after completion of Level I. Level II education provider’s tuition, room, and board was bundled with initial application fee.
- All pre-July 1, 2009 candidates must complete Level II education in one of the remaining contracted Level II classes.
- On the last day of the Level II program, a final exam is administered and graded by the education provider (either The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania). Successful passing of this exam fulfills the examination requirement.
- Upon meeting all requirements, candidates sign a license agreement and an agreement to adhere to IMCA’s Code of Professional Responsibility and its Standards of Practice.
