Industry Standards

IMCA members believe that by setting high standards for the consulting industry we can improve client confidence and increase member effectiveness.

To this end, IMCA has developed a series of standards, both for consultants and for investment managers as they interact with consultants. Our standards have become important tools throughout the consulting profession.

Code of Professional Responsibility
Performance Reporting Guidelines
Standards of Practice
Disciplinary Rules and Procedures
Guidelines for Consultants Regarding the Acceptance of Benefits from Third Parties
Ethics Think Tank—IMCA as a Community of Practice: Responses to Emerging Ethical Practices

The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) Standard—Investment Transition Management Guidelines contains the newly adopted standards that govern our investment transitions. These 12 principles are a suggested code of conduct and conventions for prudent implementation of portfolio transactions.
