Christopher C. Geczy, PhD, is academic director of the Wharton Wealth Management Initiative and adjunct associate professor of finance at The Wharton School. He teaches investment management and co-created Wharton’s first full course on hedge funds and a number of executive education courses. His research includes multi-factor models, wealth management, risk management, asset allocation, the performance of managed funds, and various aspects of equity lending and short-selling. He has published widely in the academic press and appeared in numerous popular media. He’s served on the economic advisory board of NASDAQ, is an editor of the Journal of Alternative Investments, and is on the editorial advisory board of the Journal of Wealth Management. He is a founding board member and chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Hedge Fund Association; he serves on the curriculum and exam committee of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA).He serves on the board of directors of the Alexander Hamilton Friends Foundation. He earned a BA in economics from University of Pennsylvania and a PhD in finance and econometrics from the University of Chicago.
Elizabeth Morgan, JD, represents a wide array of clients faced with multi-jurisdictional tax, estate, and business planning issues. She is experienced in the design of complex estate and business plans for U.S., non-U.S., and dual-citizen clients, and in assisting such clients with their pre-immigration and expatriation tax planning. Ms. Morgan frequently advises clients on the resolution of international tax and treaty issues in connection with their estate and business planning, and serves as outside counsel to several high net worth family offices. She has formulated and administered estate and business plans for individuals and entities with ties to many foreign countries and jurisdictions. In addition to her expertise in the design, administration, and tax compliance of both inbound and outbound foreign trust and business structures, she has an extensive background in traditional probate, trust, and estate administration. A frequent author and speaker in the areas of domestic and international estate planning, asset protection, and foreign trust planning and tax compliance, Ms. Morgan has been quoted in various publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Practical Accountant, Investments & Wealth Monitor, and Bloomberg Wealth Manager. Ms. Morgan earned a law degree at the University of Texas Law School and an undergraduate degree at Baylor University.
James M. Duggan, JD, MBA, is a founding principal of Duggan Bertsch, LLC, a Chicago-based business, tax, estate, and wealth planning firm, where he focuses on business and corporate law, and estate and wealth planning for closely held business interests and high-net-worth families. His areas of expertise include structure and implementation of family offices, tax planning, asset-protection strategy, and multidisciplinary planning. He lectures and writes frequently and serves as a director on numerous for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. He earned a BS magna cum laude from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, an MBA in finance summa cum laude from DePaul University, and a JD from DePaul, where he was awarded positions on the DePaul Law Review and DePaul Business Law Journal.
Paul Tiffany, PhD, is an adjunct professor at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and the Haas School of Business of the University of California, Berkeley. He was a visiting professor at Sasin Graduate School of Business, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand (2002–2006), and is currently a visiting professor at CEIBS in Shanghai. Professor Tiffany currently heads Paul Tiffany & Associates, a multi-specialty consulting and training organization based in Santa Rosa, CA. He is also chairman of iCore, Inc., a high-tech start-up firm based in northern California that develops patented SCI network products. His most recent book, Business Plans for Dummies, co-authored with Dr. Steven Peterson, is currently in its second edition and is available in 10 languages, including Mandarin. Professor Tiffany earned an undergraduate degree from Loyola University, an MBA from Harvard University, and a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.
David B. Loeper, CIMA®, CIMC® is chairman and chief executive officer of Wealthcare Capital Management®. Previously he was vice president of investment consulting for Wheat First Securities, where he was promoted to managing director of investment consulting and then to managing director of strategic planning for the firm’s retail brokerage division. He worked at Wheat First Securities for 10 years, leaving in 1999 to found Financeware. Mr. Loeper was appointed by the governor of Virginia to serve on the Investment Advisory Committee of the nearly $30 billion Virginia Retirement System. He is author of the top-selling book, Stop the 401k Rip-off! as well as The Four Pillars of Retirement Plans, Stop the Retirement Rip-off, and Stop the Investing Rip-off. Mr. Loeper has appeared on CNBC and has been a featured contributor on Bloomberg TV.
Scott D. Welch, MBA, CIMA®, is a senior managing director and member of the executive committee at Fortigent, LLC, in Rockville, MD. He is a member of the editorial advisory boards of the Journal of Wealth Management and IMCA’s Investments & Wealth Monitor, and he sits on the agenda advisory board for the ABA Wealth Management and Trust Conference. He speaks frequently about investing and wealth management, and he has authored articles that have appeared in the Journal of Wealth Management, Investment Advisor, Bloomberg Wealth Manager, ABA Trust & Investments, IMCA’s Investments & Wealth Monitor, and the Journal of Financial Service Professionals. Mr. Welch earned a BS in mathematics from the University of California Irvine and an MBA in finance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
