IMCA Announces 2009 Conference Calendar
DENVER—February 11, 2009—Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA®), the provider of the premier investment consulting and wealth management credentials and world-class educational offerings, is proud to announce its 2009 lineup of conferences. Last year IMCA conferences hosted more than 4,200 attendees. In January, IMCA’s annual New York Consultants Conference sold out with nearly 800 attendees. IMCA’s remaining 2009 conferences include:
IMCA 2009 Specialty Conference—Focus on Retirement, March 9–10, San Antonio, TX
This conference, held at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa, features keynote addresses by Francois Gadenne, co-founder, chairman, and executive director of the Retirement Income Industry Association (RIIA); Terrance Odean, Ph.D., Willis H. Booth Professor of Banking and Finance at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley; Peng Chen, Ph.D., president and chief investment officer of Ibbotson Associates and one of the foremost authorities on asset allocation and managed retirement account services; and William G. Shipman, chairman of CarriageOaks Partners, and a well-known advocate of Social Security reform. A sampling of other sessions include a discussion of the retirement planning model called “age banding”, the evolution of target-date investing, working with the emotions of retirement, and 2009 updates on Social Security tax law. IMCA also is offering an extended session titled "CIMA® Designation Coursework Refresher".
IMCA 2009 Spring Professional Development Conference, May 3–5, San Diego, CA
This bi-annual national conference, held at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, features keynote addresses by Raghuram G. Rajan, professor at The University of Chicago and former chief economist at the International Monetary Fund; Dan Ariely, MIT behavioral economist and author of the book, Predictably Irrational; plus a conversation with Harry Markowitz, father of modern portfolio theory and winner of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Additional sessions focus on economic recovery, portfolio construction in the current economic environment, wealth management strategies, and practice management.
