David Laibson, PhD, is the Robert I. Goldman Professor of Economics at Harvard University. He is also a member of the National Bureau of Economic Research, where he is a research associate in the asset pricing, economic fluctuations, and aging working groups. Professor Laibsonʼs research focuses on the topic of behavioral economics, and he leads Harvard Universityʼs Foundations of Human Behavior Initiative. He serves on several editorial boards, as well as the boards of the Health and Retirement Study (National Institutes of Health) and the Pension Research Council (Wharton). He serves on Harvardʼs Pension Investment Committee and the Academic Research Council of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Professor Laibson is a recipient of a Marshall Scholarship. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a recipient of the TIAA‒CREF Paul A. Samuelson Award for Outstanding Scholarly Writing on Lifelong Financial Security. Professor Laibson earned an AB in economics summa cum laude from Harvard University, an MSc in econometrics and mathematical economics from the London School of Economics, and a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He earned his PhD in 1994 and has taught at Harvard since then. In recognition of his teaching, he has been awarded Harvardʼs ΦΒΚ Prize and a Harvard College Professorship.

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management

Mary Beth Cheloha manages the team of manager research analysts at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management responsible for evaluating fixed income and quantitative and alternative strategy investment products. Her manager research responsibilities encompass a variety of investment asset management firms and strategies, including US and global real estate investment trust (REIT) managers, managed futures managers, commodity-based managers, tactical asset allocation managers and long/short managers. Before joining the Firm in 2007, Ms. Cheloha conducted fundamental research for Susquehanna Investment Group, was a sell side equity analyst for Pennsylvania Merchant Group and was a fixed income portfolio manager and research analyst for Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company. Ms. Cheloha started her career as a National Bank Examiner for the Comptroller of the Currency. She holds a B.S .B.A. from the University of North Dakota and has more than 20 years of investment experience. Ms. Cheloha is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute.

Cruz Consulting Group

Kelli Cruz is founder of Cruz Consulting Group, where she specializes in working with RIA and broker–dealer affiliated advisory firms on strategic planning and human capital, organizational design, compensation planning, performance management, and business succession. Previously she was a managing director at Pepin Consulting, where she led human capital consulting engagements. Before that she oversaw the InvestmentNews/Moss Adams research studies and was responsible for creating and implementing the industry’s first study dedicated to succession readiness and planning. She has been a director in advisor services at Charles Schwab and has held management positions at Wells Fargo. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from San Francisco State University.

CFA® Institute

Robert Dannhauser is head of global capital markets policy at CFA Institute, where he is responsible for regulatory and legislative relations in Washington and Brussels as well as thought leadership on policy issues related to the integrity of global capital markets. He also oversees communications functions for CFA Institute global advocacy activities. Previously, he worked in sales, marketing, and client management for a number of institutional investment advisors, including Bankers Trust Company, Mitchell Hutchins Asset Management, and Principal Global Investors. He also marketed fixed-income analytics systems and served as a consultant in developing strategic finance analytics for banks and credit unions. Mr. Dannhauser also has served private investors and launched a registered investment advisory firm focused on individual investors with particular focus on integrating environmental, social, and governance factors in the investment process. He earned an MBA in finance from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, an MPH in health systems and policy from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and a BA in political science from the George Washington University.

Loomis, Sayles & Company, L.P.

Dan Fuss is vice chairman with Loomis, Sayles & Company, where he manages the firm’s flagship Loomis Sayles Bond Fund and seven other funds. In 2012, he received both the Institutional Investor Money Management Lifetime Achievement Award and the Lipper Excellence in Investing Award. In 2000, he was named to the Fixed Income Analysts Society’s Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions and lifetime achievements toward the advancement of the analysis of fixed income securities and portfolios. He has twice been president of the Boston Security Analysts Society. He earned BS and MBA degrees from Marquette University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1958.

With over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, Phil offers our clients considerable planning and asset allocation experience, in addition to serving as Senior Portfolio Management Director for The Lenox Group’s Exchange Traded Fund Strategies. Phil also holds the designation of CPM® (Certified Portfolio Manager—Columbia University).

A former Branch Manager at Morgan Stanley offices in Forest Hills, NY, Greenwich, CT and New York City, Phil was one of the founders of The Lenox Group in 2004. Director of Private Client Management Beth Hamilton-Keen is Director of Private Client Management at Mawer Investment Management Ltd. Since joining Mawer in 2005, she has been involved in institutional and private client portfolio management. Ms. Hamilton-Keen has investment experience since 1990, serving both private and not-for-profit institutional clients. She was a Vice President and Investment Counsellor for CIBC Private Investment Counsel, formerly TAL Private Investment Counsel, from 1996 to 2005. Kathleen Burns Kingsbury specializes in wealth psychology and behavioral change and is the author of How to Give Financial Advice to Women: Attracting and Retaining High-Net-Worth Female Clients and How to Give Financial Advice to Couples: Balancing Her Needs with His. She serves as a faculty member of with IMCA’s Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA) program and is an adjunct lecturer at the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University. Lara Magnusen is vice president, director of investment products for Altegris Advisors, where she is a member of the investment committee. Previously she served as the director of manager research for Cabezon Capital LLC/Borton Hermeneutics LLC, where she was responsible for monitoring and developing seeded managers. Before that she was associate portfolio manager and director of investor relations at Helix Investment Partners, a capital structure arbitrage hedge fund; and before that a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs. She earned a BA in economics with a minor in business administration from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego.

Richard Marston, PhD, is the James R. F. Guy Professor of Finance at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and director of the George Weiss Center for International Financial Research. He regularly participates in IMCA’s CIMA® education program and the CPWA® Program. He is director of the Private Wealth Management Program for ultra-high-net-worth families that began in 1999; more than 600 family members have taken this week-long program. Dr. Marston is a member of the board of WP Carey LLC and currently serves on the investment committees of four ultra-high-net-worth families.

Dr. Marston has given presentations in more than a dozen countries in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. He also has given presentations for a number of securities firms in the United States including Bank of America/Merrill Lynch, Lincoln Financial, and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Dr. Marston’s work has been widely cited in the press including publications such as Barron’s, Financial Times, Newsweek, and the Wall Street Journal, and he has appeared on television programs such as the Nightly Business Report and CNBC. He earned a BA summa cum laude from Yale University, a BPhil from Oxford University, and a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Bob Mauterstock is a retired financial adviser who worked with hundreds of families in Connecticut for over three decades. He specialized in retirement income planning, long-term care planning, and investment management, and he wrote Can We Talk? A Financial Guide for Baby Boomers Assisting Their Elderly Parents. Since retirement, he has been speaking to groups throughout New England regarding dialogue between seniors and their adult children about the critical issues related to aging. Graduate School of Business, Columbia University

Frederic Mishkin, PhD, is the Alfred Lerner Professor of Banking and Financial Institutions at the Graduate School of Business, Columbia University. He is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and was a member (Governor) of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (September 2006‒August 2008). He has been a senior fellow at the FDIC Center for Banking Research, and past president of the Eastern Economic Association. Since earning a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1976, he has taught at The University of Chicago, Northwestern University, Princeton University, and Columbia, and received an honorary professorship from the Peoples (Renmin) University of China. He was executive vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and an associate economist of the Federal Open Market Committee of the Federal Reserve System (1994‒1997). Professor Mishkin's research focuses on monetary policy and its impact on financial markets and the aggregate economy. He is the author of The Economics of Money, Banking and Financial Markets, 8th Edition (the #1-selling textbook in its field), more than 15 other books, and more than 150 articles in professional journals and books. Professor Mishkin has served on the editorial board of the American Economic Review, has been an associate editor at the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, Journal of Applied Econometrics, and the Journal of Economic Perspectives, and was the editor of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's, Economic Policy Review. He is currently a member of the editorial board for six academic journals, including the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking; Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics Abstracts; Journal of International Money and Finance; International Finance; Finance India; and Economic Policy Review. He has been a consultant to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the International Monetary Fund, as well as to numerous central banks throughout the world.

Alan Reid is a founder and chief executive officer of Forward. In this role, he has led the firm’s transformation from a traditional long-only manager to a solutions provider with an array of outcome-oriented and nontraditional strategies. Previously, he was an executive director of the private wealth management team at Morgan Stanley, designing the firm’s data aggregation strategy. While senior vice president at Morgan Stanley Online, he expanded the firm’s external infrastructure and helped it win top scores for service delivery. He was an advisory board member for SunGard Expert Solutions and is currently on the board of FOLIOfn. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute, where he has been an advocate for mutual fund practices that protect shareholder assets.  He earned a BS in finance from Menlo College.

Lawrence Restieri is head of alternative sales for global third-party distribution within Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM), with responsibility for the sales, marketing, and ongoing client support for the alternative investments offered by the firm through third-party intermediaries such as banks, trust companies, broker‒dealers, insurance companies, and registered investment advisors. Before joining Global Third Party Distribution in 2013, he was the co-head of the Alternative Capital Markets Group (ACM) within the Investment Management Division. ACM is responsible for sourcing and marketing alternative investments offered by the firm to private wealth management clients. Mr. Restieri joined Goldman Sachs in 2000 and was named managing director in 2006. Previously, he was an attorney at Finn Dixon & Herling LLP, a corporate boutique law firm based in Stamford, Connecticut, and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York. He earned a JD from Fordham University School of Law, where he was an editor on the Fordham Law Review, and an AB cum laude in history from Harvard University.

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management

Paul Ricciardelli heads Consulting Group Investment Advisor Research for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, overseeing the research and evaluation process for investment management firms across Consulting Group’s investment advisory programs. Prior to this, Mr. Ricciardelli spent 12 years at Merrill Lynch, initially as an analyst responsible for investment manager research, and advancing to various leadership roles across the firm’s investment manager research group. He also spent time in capital markets with Prudential Securities. Mr. Ricciardelli graduated from Boston College with a B.S. in Finance and Marketing and received his M.B.A. from Ohio State University. He is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute.

Eaton Vance Advisor Institute

David Richman is national director at Eaton Vance Advisor Institute, where he previously was a member of the Eaton Vance Wealth Management Solutions Group. He provides practice management coaching to financial advisors and teams. He is co-author (with Alan Parisse) of Questions Great Financial Advisors Ask and Investors Need to Know and This Is Your Time; he also co-authored (with Robert Brooks) The Charismatic AdvisorTM. He is a frequent contributor to numerous financial magazines and he has served on numerous civic boards. He earned BA and MA degrees in public policy analysis from the University of Rochester and a JD from the University of Connecticut.

Matthew Rizzo is the head of investment strategy and content within Consulting Group Investment Advisor Research, responsible both for publishing timely thought-leadership content and for leading research and investment-related strategic initiatives within the group. Mr. Rizzo was previously a senior manager research analyst focused on the evaluation of US value equity strategies. He joined the Firm as a manager research analyst in 2003, responsible for covering a range of investment products. Previously, he spent nearly ten years with The Vanguard Group, where he most recently held the position of analyst within the Portfolio Review Group. In that position, Mr. Rizzo was responsible for analyzing mutual fund sub-advisors and working with plan sponsors and other institutional clients. Ricardo Santamaria is an investment strategist with The Mark T. Curtis Group of Morgan Stanley, where he works primarily with clients establishing investment objectives, creating investment policy statements, developing asset allocation guidelines, and screening of money managers for investment. In 2010 he received the Western Region Consulting Group Analyst of the Year award. He earned an MBA in finance from Santa Clara University and a BA in business management, cum laude, from Menlo College.

Bart Smith is head of advisor sales and trading for Susquehanna International Group, where he is responsible for several business units, including oversight of the firm’s exchange-traded funds (ETF) market-making activities, lead market maker programs, ETF trading for the advisor and broker-dealer channels, global equity portfolio trading, and other strategic initiatives. Liz Ann Sonders, MBA, is senior vice president and chief investment strategist for Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., where her investment strategy responsibilities range from market and economic analysis to investor education, all focused on individual investors. She analyzes and interprets the economy and markets on behalf of Schwab's entire client base, and chairs Schwab's Investment Strategy Council; she contributes to Schwab's client newsletters and speaks at many of the company's corporate and client events. In 2005, she was appointed to and served on the President's Advisory Panel on Federal Tax Reform, President George W. Bush's bipartisan tax-reform commission. She earned a BA in economics and political science and an MBA in finance from Fordham University.

GSAM

Michael is the co-head of Global Portfolio Management within the Global Fixed Income team in Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM). In this role, he is responsible for co-leading the global team of portfolio managers that oversee multi-sector portfolios. Previously, Michael was a senior portfolio manager and co-head of the US Fixed Income group. He joined the firm in GSAM in 2007 as a managing director and head of Structured Products. This role entailed the creation of structured product asset management vehicles across the spectrum of fixed income products and management of opportunistic/alternative portfolios. Michael was named partner in 2012.

Prior to joining the firm, Michael was a senior managing director in charge of Friedman, Billings & Ramsey’s (FBR) Fixed Income Sales & Trading Division. Under Michael’s guidance, his division was responsible for the underwriting of more than $22 billion of mortgage-related transactions. Prior to FBR, he was the vice president and head of the Securities Sales and Trading Group at Freddie Mac.

Michael earned a BA in Politics and Economics from Brandeis University, a General Course Degree from the London School of Economics and an MA in International Economics and Finance from the Lemberg School at Brandeis University.

John Taft is head of RBC Wealth Management in the United States, where he is responsible for the firm's wealth management growth strategy. He has served as chairman of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), and he is executive sponsor of the firm’s gay, lesbian, allied and diverse employees group. He is the author of Stewardship: Lessons Learned from the Lost Culture of Wall Street. He earned a BA degree from Yale, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa; and a master’s degree in public and private management from the Yale School of Organization and Management.

Dan Weiskopf  founded Access ETF Solutions, a tactical and global third party ETF Portfolio Manager. He is often quoted in the media as an ETF resource and has presented at a number of conferences. Previously he was principal and co-portfolio manager at Forefront Global ETFs, where he focused on ETF research and strategy. At UBS, where, along with Dan Faucetta, he was a founding partner of the FaucettaWeiskopf Wealth Management Group. Before that he worked at MH Capital Partners L.P., a small-cap hedge fund he founded in 1995. He began his career in 1987 at American Diversified Enterprises in fixed income and equity research. He is a graduate of Colorado College and earned an MBA from Fordham University.
