IMCA Research Quarterly Special Report: Wholesale Challenges
Wholesalers have been forced to evolve their business model and value proposition in recent years. More than 7,000 mutual funds are available to advisors along with a sea of other investment vehicles including separate accounts, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and alternative investments. As a result, it has become more difficult than ever for wholesalers to stand out solely on the basis of their product. Parallel to this shift, financial advisors, particularly the largest and most successful, have been shifting to fee-based, planning-oriented relationships. The combination of these factors has forced wholesalers to move away from being simple product salesmen to consultants for advisors and their businesses. Click here to download the full, members-only, report.
